I took digital photography originally because I needed a tech credit, but also because I thought it would be really easy and kind of a blow off class. I was wrong, because this class was actually a lot harder than I would have expected. It turns out that there's so much more to photography than I thought possible. There's so many settings, set ups and things you have to do to take what would be considered a good picture. It takes multiple shots and it takes time and patience. I learned a ton of different ways to take pictures, filters, settings, such as ISO, Shutter, and Aperture. I also learned where to place the subject in certain images, such as portrait or rule of thirds, framing and etc. I would go on about all of the different ways to take a picture, but that would take hours. Overall this class was very informative in terms of all the different types of cameras, lenses, structures, and so on. I learned a lot about Photoshop and it was very fun, in fact if it didn't cost money, I would download Photoshop for sure. It is a very useful tool to enhance any photo. There's a lot of things that I can take away from this class, though it wasn't what I expected, it was a lot of fun and I enjoyed the atmosphere right away, though i wasn't really comfortable to begin with because I didn't know what to expect, but it got better. When i create things, I always have a problem with being self conscious of it and i'm always afraid of being judged, or not liking what I do, but I have kind of found my way around that in this class. Overall, I've had some good photo assignments and others not as well, but everyone has those not as good days, and I feel like I have grown a lot over this trimester and i'm sad to see it come to an end. Though I am not taking digital photography again, I do have regular photography next trimester. I hope its just as fun as this class was. My Growth Over the Trimester:

Summary:So earlier last week, I thought that the multiple me was the last photo shop assignment, but it turns out, we have one more. This assignment was a one day thing and the goal was to capture an image where he Mr. Bush is clear and the background is blurry to show motion. This assignment was actually pretty hard. This isn't the best photo ever, but it's the best one I took, because I couldn't get the right lighting. It was always too bright so I couldn't tell how the pictures looked, or what needed to be changed. I took a shot in the dark, or in this case, light, and this was the best result I got. It's not too bad, though. This for sure is the last assignment and I had a lot of fun this trimester and I can't believe it's over already.
Summary and What I LearnedFor our very last Photoshop assignment, The goal was to make a picture with duplicates of ourselves doing different things. This assignment was actually very easy. I was confused at first on how to make it look like a lot of me, but after going through the instructions, it's super easy. I learned how to use layer masks more properly and I learned how to place multiple images of myself on top of each other a reveal all of me in the pictures. This assignment was a lot of fun and I also enjoyed the experience in Digital Photography this trimester. It went by really fast, but it was a lot of fun and i'm really satisfied with a lot of the things, including this assignment that i've done this trimester.
Summary and What I LearnedFor this photo assignment, I did macro because I really had no idea what to do and ran out of ideas, so I just thought it wouldn't be too hard to just take close macro pictures of things that have texture. Since this was the last assignment, I wanted to do good, but I don't like my pictures as much as I thought. I probably could have done better on this, but I think its fine. One thing that was challenging was the the camera didn't want to cooperate with me. It was difficult to get the pictures in focus. It's been a fun trimester and I've learned a lot about photography. Best Photo:For this photo, I boosted the contrast and clarity and shadows, to bring out the texture and I also boosted the vibrancy.
Summary:For this Photoshop assignment, we learned how to take portrait photos using window light, the cheaper way, and also studio lighting. This assignment was fun because we actually got to get in groups and take pictures of each other, rather than going off on your own and taking pictures of random stuff to Photoshop. I don't know, I just liked this assignment. For the most part it was fairly easy. The only things I found difficult was when I couldn't figure out why my photos were blurry, but I fixed it. I know the trimester is almost over, but I think there's one more Photoshop assignment left and I'm excited for it.
Summary and What I Learned:For this photo assignment, I did black and white because I really had no other ideas. My cat is really boring, I have no events to go to, and I feel awkward taking other peoples pictures, so I chose black and white, because I guess you don't really need a theme for it. You can just take good photos and make them black and white. I literally went out and took pictures of anything I could find. It didn't take me as long as most of my other assignments, I think because I wasn't looking for any specific subject. What I learned from this is that not everything looks good in black and white. I took some other pictures and I tried to turn them black and white and they weren't the best looking. I am okay with how these ones turned out and I am going to spend the next couple days trying to figure out what i'm gonna do this weekend for the next photo assignment. Best Photo:Some edits I did to my best photo were that I turned the vibrance and saturation all the way down to make it black and white and then I turned up the blacks and turned down the whites. I also messed around with the highlights and shadows.
Summary:For this photoshop assignment, we had to go online and find our own tutorials to use for photoshop. We had a lot of freedom for this assignment. One problem I had was finding a good tutorial to use. I'm not good with following tutorials and I get confused really fast, so I had to pick a pretty simple tutorial. The tutorial I chose was one that showed me how to make this person look like they are disintegrating. It showed how to liquidate the photo and use the warp tool to stretch the back and then showed how to use the layers properly, like the black vs. white layer mask. It also shows different patters you can make the disintegration effect look like using various brush tools. Final Product:Summary and What I learned:For this photo assignment, I decided to do nature because it was actually a niceish day for once and I honestly have no clue what else to do. I am dry on ideas. Anyways, this was one of the fairly easier topics to do, because there is nature everywhere and it does it's own thing and there's almost always photo opportunities in nature. In some cases it was difficult to find a good angle to take certain pictures because of the sun and where it was in the sky and the problem of my camera shadow or my shadow in the picture, so most of the time, I was just trying to find good angles. I really like how these photos came out and I should really figure out what I'm going to do for next weeks assignment. Best Photo:Summary and What I learned:For this photoshop assignment, we were told to make 5 panoramic photos. I originally thought this was going to be very difficult and i had no idea if I was going to do it right or not, but after shooting the photos i realized that panoramics is not actually very difficult. It takes a lot of patience and you have to make sure that the photos have enough to line up. Edits are also pretty easy. Over all I think this photoshop assignment was fairly easy other than some of mine look slightly slanted because I tried to straighten them out, but other than that I do think it was a good assignment and I enjoyed doing it.
Summary and What I Learned: For this photo assignment, I decided to do light painting. One thing I regret about this is that I didn't wait for the light painting demo from Mr.Bush, but I think I did okay for a first time trying light painting. I definitely could have done better probably if I really knew what I was doing. I think a couple of these look cool and I am okay with how I did on this. One thing I learned is that it takes so much patience to do light painting and you have to be pretty careful. It is also way harder than I thought, but so seems everything in this class. It is a fun experience, though and I had fun trying to figure out light painting on my own. I can wait for what i am going to shoot this weekend. Best Photo:For my best photo, I used a one of those bai drinks and i tied a glow stick to a string and I swung it around the bottle. In terms of editing, I turned up the vibrancy and the exposure and contrast and clarity. I also turned down the whites and the highlights and shadows and turned up the blacks. I also turned up the noise reduction.

Composition Assignment
Assignment Description:This is our first assignment for Digital photography. The assignment was to take a picture of an example of each type of composition, such as Color, framing, perspective, spacing, symmetry, etc... This assignment was kind of difficult for me because I am not the best at taking pictures and it was kind of harder for me to find a good example of each. These are some of the better of the pictures I took.
What I learned:I deffinently learned a lot from this assignemnt because going into it, I never really knew anything about how to take better pictures and make them look more appealing, I used to always just take pictures at random and never payed much attention to how or where in the picture. I also realized that it's a whole lot harder to take a picture then I thought, I had to take some picture multiple times before I feel comfortable with the picture, although that might only be because I'm getting graded for them. I definently had a hard time with balance because I was realling confused about it at first and didn't really know how to find a picture to take for that. I'm glad that I got to learn more about how to place things in photos to make them seem more appealing and interesting and to stand out more. I can't wait for more projects to come this trimester!
